Title: Multimedia producer

Contract: Permanent (full-time)

Salary: £42,050

Location: London/ Hybrid

BMJ Group has an exciting opportunity for a multimedia producer to join our editorial team. Reporting to the multimedia editor, the producer will lead on short form video production, but work across the whole editorial team to aid the success of The BMJ's multimedia strategy.


Key responsibilities

  • Short form video creation: The producer will lead on this, ensuring that we have a constant pipeline of short-form video on our various social platforms.

  • Podcast production: Working with the editor and wider multimedia team to create our fortnightly podcast, and special theme issues based on BMJ collections.

  • Analytics: The multimedia producer will be expect to regularly report on, and respond to, usage data - to ensure the growth of our audience.

  • Advice and support: The producer will be expected to work closely with section editors to help them create more multimedia content as part of digital transformation.


Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • 1 year of working within an academic journal or scholarly publishing

  • Further training in journalism or science communication.

  • Familiarity with editing tools, and a high degree of competency with Descript editor

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Strong communication and presentation skills (remote and in-person)

  • Self-motivated and results-focused

  • Comfortable with working as part of a remote/hybrid international team
