An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Community Editor to join the BMJ Events and Partnerships team, to support the development of research and clinical community content and engagement.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement the editorial strategy for the Publishing and Events Community workstream.
Edit and oversee content development for community channels.
Responsible for developing tone, positioning, and storytelling across podcasts, events, newsletters, webinars and community channels
Commission and produce content such as interviews, discussions, and opinion articles for community channels.
Review and select appropriate content from across the portfolio for inclusion in community activity, working closely with internal and external stakeholders within the BMJ portfolio
Liaise with contributors, conducting content briefings and reviewing all materials (slides, questions etc)
Review and approve summaries of content and video edits
Implement processes to support planning and delivery of multi-channel content projects — ensuring smooth workflows, timelines, and alignment between Editorial guidelines, operations, and marketing teams.
Help to scale engagement initiatives, working closely with the marketing team
Monitor content performance against agreed KPIs
Work with the Head of BMJx and Digital Product Manager to define success metrics (reach, engagement, sentiment) and help build an audience-insight dashboard.
Support multiple teams to ensure coherence, editorial quality, and shared learning on community initiatives across Publishing & Events.
Build preparedness for reactive and real-time issues; in future, help teams skill-up on messaging and editorial response.
Partner with senior leadership on internal/external messaging and thought-leadership content related to community initiatives e.g. journal Editor
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Clinical experience to inform editorial decision-making and ensure relevance of content
Medical Degree
Experience in critical appraisal of evidence to inform decision-making
Experience writing for a clinical and/or public health audience
Experience with social media and audience engagement strategy and delivery
Experience designing content for a live audience e.g. events and webinars
Experience presenting live content in the form of panel discussion, chairing webinars, or hosting podcasts
