Job Title: Clinical Editor, Education section
Contract: Permanent (part-time) - working 2 days a week
Location: UK - Hybrid
Salary: £27,852.80

Job Purpose
BMJ have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and focused individual to join our team as a Clinical Editor to commission and edit content for the Education section of The BMJ.
Responsibilities
- To develop content ideas for the Education section of The BMJ
- To contribute to the BMJ’s international strategy by suggesting topic ideas and commissioning content for the Education section
- To judge and handle conflicts of interest in line with The BMJ’s conflicts of interest policy
- To peer review articles
- To liaise with and support authors
- To contribute to and maintain processes to ensure timely delivery of content for online and print
- To lead specific article types or series to ensure a good balance and flow of content, liaising with series advisers and other stakeholders
- To provide clinical expertise to other editors/sections when needed
- To support new editors
- To provide the first line in handling post publication queries
- To attend departmental meetings relevant to these activities
Experience of at least one of the following:
- Writing, editing, commissioning or curating educational content for clinicians
- Doing or using clinical research in practice
- Critical appraisal
- Doing or using audit or quality improvement
- Medical management or policy making
- Medical education
Essential qualifications:
- A medical degree (MBBS)
Desirable qualifications at least one of the following:
- Clinical post graduate exams
- Completion of specialty training e.g. Consultant or GP
- Postgraduate qualification such as a diploma, MSc or PhD
