Contract: 12 Months Fixed Term Contract

BMJ Group is seeking a Senior Social Media Specialist to join the Customer Marketing team.

In this fast-paced and constantly evolving role, you'll be a social media expert responsible for leading our social media strategy. You will also provide guidance to various departments, including a wide network of Social Media Editors within our Academic Journals portfolio, on how to best utilise social media channels.

Leveraging your expertise in both paid and organic social media, you'll develop innovative campaigns to increase awareness and usage of BMJ Group products. Additionally, you'll empower colleagues by training them to create and manage their own paid campaigns.

You’ll manage key relationships with our account managers at Sprout Social, Meta, X (formerly Twitter), and LinkedIn, ensuring the company stays informed about important developments in social media.

With a solid background in social media at a senior level, whether from a digital marketing agency or in-house, and experience working with both B2B and B2C clients, you'll be well-equipped to excel in this role.

 

Key Skills 

  • Extensive experience of using paid and organic social media to reach and retain consumer target groups, increase customer engagement and influence audience behaviour 

  • An understanding of audience measurement techniques and analytics and how to use them to drive campaign strategies and KPIs

  • Demonstrable experience of using social listening data to enhance campaigns, sharing relevant information across stakeholder groups 

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across a number of departments and products

  • Ability to create eye-catching social posts with a graphic designer for specific target audiences.

  • Responsible for managing your own workload, managing multiple projects concurrently and providing regular updates to stakeholders

  • Reporting outcomes and the impact of activities/campaigns undertaken to enable continuous improvement and positive ROI.

  • Great presentation skills - the candidate will be the voice of social media for the team 

  • Working knowledge of current social media data protection challenges and policies. GDPR. 

 

Skills & Experience 

  • Experience using social media marketing platforms (e.g. Hootsuite/Sprout Social) and deploying effective social media campaigns (essential).

  • Experience of implementing paid social marketing across all platforms, Facebook, X, LinkedIn and Instagram. (essential).

  • Confidence in writing compelling copy for use in social media and advertising (essential) and the use of Canva for design (preferred).

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management across teams (essential).

  • IT competence, including Google applications and web skills (essential).

  • Google Analytics and Facebook Blueprint certification (preferred). 

  • A good understanding of the healthcare market and healthcare professionals needs (desirable).
