Job Title: Editorial Services Coordinator
Contract: 12 months fixed term
Salary: £33,833 per annum (London) Outside London (salary depending on location)

Job Purpose:
This is a key role within the BMJ Editorial Services team. The role holder will be responsible for managing projects and processes that underpin the smooth running of the team and which support BMJ’s strategic priorities. This includes managing the rollout of new workflow and process documentation to suppliers; managing journal transitions between editorial suppliers; monitoring KPIs and making recommendations to reduce bottlenecks; representing Editorial Services at the Operations managers’ meetings and providing guidance to Editorial Production Assistants (daily).
Responsibilities
- Stakeholder and vendor relationship management
- Managing the standardised and efficient rollout of new workflow and process documentation to suppliers and Editorial Services team members.
- Liaison with the Research Integrity, Publishing Systems, Production and Journals teams regarding editorial policies, processes and service requirements, etc, to understand business needs.
- Manage the accurate coding of invoices for cost centre 3109.
- Represent Editorial Services at stakeholder meetings.
- Guidance and advice for Editorial Production Assistants daily using Salesforce.
- KPIs
- Monitor the progress of a suite of KPIs, including identifying bottlenecks and providing recommendations for remedial action.
- Projects
- Project manage the smooth and efficient transition of journals between editorial suppliers, with the aim of optimising service delivery.
- Project manage a list of GPS projects pertaining to the pre-acceptance process (eg, creation of standardised policies and processes), with the aim of increasing efficiency and optimising the user journey for authors, reviewers, editors, suppliers and staff.
- People Management
- Key contact for the editorial office suppliers; communicating updates and leading the fortnightly check-ins.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Relevant editorial experience in a publishing office environment, ideally STM
- Excellent written English and communication skills
- Excellent skill level in G-suite and Microsoft Office suite
- Experience with ScholarOne (or other publishing tracking systems)
- Excellent organisational, customer service and reporting skills
- Time management/prioritisation skills
- A proactive and creative approach to problem-solving
- Able to juggle numerous demands from different editors
