Job Title: Credit Controller

Contract: 6 Months Fixed Term Contract

Salary: £25,924 - £28,805

Location: Cardiff / Hybrid

Job Purpose:     

The role focuses on mitigating risks and maximising profits through ensuring invoices are paid in full and on time for BMJ, and its parent organisation BMA. The individual will collect payments promptly for Sales Invoices while working within Credit Control Policy guidelines, and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. They will check and ensure the accuracy of the sales ledger, and take ownership of Key Customer Accounts, building internal and external customer relationships. They will support the Senior Credit Controller in reporting regular Aged Debt information as required. This is a hybrid role which will involve working from home much of the time. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain areas of ledger for the businesses assigned to the role, and ensure invoices paid within terms. Business areas include: Subscriptions, Society fees, BMJ & BMA events & Tenants.

  • Build Relationships with Internal / External Customers & Key Stakeholders.

  • Resolve invoicing and customer queries within the terms of the credit control SLA.

  • Provide statements, copy invoices etc to customers and internally when requested.

  • Provide cover for Weekly Debtor Reporting and other accounting information (as required).

  • Weekly dashboard reporting

  • Assist other departmental team member(s) with queries.

  • Various ad hoc duties including vendor forms completion, credit checking, contracts updates, etc).

 

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Two years+ Experience in a similar role within Credit Control / Accounts Receivable, ideally including use of multi-currency ledgers.

  • A good grounding in financial applications used by medium-large companies - BMJ uses Navision ledger and SalesForce CRM, so experience in these would be preferable.

  • Excellent communication skills and experience working within a customer-focused environment (essential).

  • Use of various systems (MS Dynamics, Google suite of products, Microsoft Office package, particularly Excel).

  • A quick learner who can work under their own initiative, the applicant would need to have good time management skills, and be comfortable in making their own decisions.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Analytical skills and thorough attention to detail.
