Content Manager
Job Overview
BMJ Digital Health has an exciting opportunity for a Content Manager to join a talented and friendly team, working on BMJ Best Practice, BMJ’s award-winning online clinical decision support tool for doctors and other healthcare professionals. BMJ Best Practice provides the latest evidence-based information to underpin diagnosis and treatment decisions across more than 1,000 medical conditions and symptom presentations.
Working closely with section editors, digital content editors, and the digital delivery team to ensure that our content meets the highest standards of quality and is delivered on schedule.
Role Responsibility
- Manage the end-to-end workflows across BMJ Digital Health, including scheduling and resource allocation.
- Monitor schedules to ensure delivery of new and updated content to agreed key performance indicators and contractual obligations.
- Identify potential issues, putting plans in place to mitigate risk and prevent delays.
- Report against project plans and milestones.
- Maintain databases and spreadsheets.
- Manage workflow tools.
- Review and edit written content for accuracy, clarity, grammar, punctuation, and adherence to style guidelines.
- Assign and monitor freelancer work, giving feedback to maintain quality.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills
Qualifications
- Essential: a degree level qualification in a relevant subject (e.g., science, communications or publishing).
Experience
- In-depth knowledge of content production and publishing workflows.
- Knowledge of workflow/project management tools.
- Proven copy editing experience in a publishing environment.
- Experience of working within a CMS and the ability to adapt to new digital systems.
- Knowledge of translation management systems and processes is an advantage.
- Understanding of copyright and permissions.
Skills
- Excellent organisational and problem solving skills, with ability to multi-task and work to tight deadlines.
- Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to engage with complex medical content.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
